Michael C. Dotten

Mike has been an attorney for 30 years practicing primarily energy and antitrust law. He is a shareholder in the firm of Heller Ehrman LLP where he previously served as the co-chair of the firm’s Energy Practice Group. Mike is admitted to practice in a number of Federal Courts (including the United States Supreme Court) and in the States of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Mike is certified as an arbitrator (with the American Arbitration Association) and as a mediator (with state and federal courts and U.S. Arbitration and Mediation of Oregon). He has been active in the American Bar Association, the Oregon State Bar and the Multnomah Bar Association on energy matters, alternative dispute resolution, and access to justice and hunger issues. He regularly writes for legal publications and speaks at national conferences on energy and antitrust law. Mike is active in the community having served on a number of political campaigns, in a gubernatorial transition, as Board Chair of William Temple House (a mental health and social service agency), as Chair of the University of Oregon Law School Alumni Board and on the law school Board of Visitors, and in outreach and social service programs at Christ Episcopal Church. He is a member of the Arlington Club and the Multnomah Athletic Club. Mike is listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the West. He previously served as an Assistant Attorney General for Idaho, as a Senior Counsel for Bonneville Power Administration and as General Counsel for a natural gas pipeline.

Mike has traveled to France (many times) Italy, Monaco, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, a number of French and Spanish speaking Caribbean countries, Australia, Mexico, Peru, Israel, Egypt, Russia, Poland and much of Canada (where he was born). Mike is active in social service programs that serve Palestinians and Peruvian and Ugandan children. Mike and his wife Cheryl have four grown children and one grandchild.
